Hypnotherapy has been used to treat various medical conditions for many years. It was first developed in the 19th century and has been used ever since. One popular use of hypnotherapy is during pregnancy and childbirth. Many women have found relief from the pain and discomfort of pregnancy by using hypnotherapy. The technique was first used in the 1930s and 1940s by British doctors such as Grantly Dick-Read and Jacqueline Vincent Priya. Ever since, it has been offered as a standard option in many hospitals for women who are hoping to find relief from pain without having to resort to the use of prescription painkillers or invasive techniques such as an epidural.
